The HCA is the national housing and regeneration agency for England. It delivers government investment and land for housing and regeneration needs and owns the land and assets at Connaught Barracks, aside from Fort Burgoyne which transferred over to the Land Trust. A key part of our role is to work with government and other public bodies to unlock and accelerate the release of this land for the creation of new homes and employment opportunities for local areas.
We have been working with Dover District Council to see how we can help them deliver more homes through this approach and extensive consultation has taken place regarding this.
The site has suffered in the economic climate and a development partner has not be secured for this site. All partners continue to work together to find a solution and deliver homes here.
There is still an allocation for up to 500 homes in the Local Development Plan.
